NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Though Zogenix (ZGNX) made it to the closing bell up 4.56% on the news that the FDA chairwoman had backed the controversial drug, it is losing its gains in extended trading - down 7.9% at 5:00 p.m. EST.
The drop comes in the wake of Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) submitting a bill to pull the company's hydrocodone pain killer Zohydro from the market. The senator has been one of the most vocal opponents of the drug, citing its highly addictive, pure hydrocodone content as a cause for concern. Most hydrocodone based pain-killers are mixed with other drugs to decrease their risk of addiction and the senator from West Virgina leads a chorus of lawmakers who would like to see the drug pulled.

It is not just this one. Many of the shipping companies habitually dilute their shareholders. I was a shareholder in NAT(Nordic american tankers) for some time and felt totally mistreated by the management. They issued dilutive shares repeatedly while shares were well below book value, continued to pay a dividend while they were cash flow negative, continuously misread the market they were in, and continued to pay themselved handsomely for their utter mismanagement. Having lost well over a third of my capital in a 2 1/2 yr period when the markets were rising and realising the interests of management were completely misalligned with mine, and deciding time is more potentially injurious to my capital, I exited in sheer disgust at them. Even a solid pristine balance sheet can't stand up to idiotic self serving management.

Why are there talks about slowing down?
In one of my previous articles where I was speaking of Bombardier (BDRAF) troubles because of the drop in oil prices, I had mentioned that analysts are expecting the oil prices to drop as low as $60 a barrel. It seems that time has come as Brent Crude oil price touched $60.79 a barrel according to NASDAQ. The following is chart shows the fluctuations in the Brent Crude Oil Spot Price. The latest spot price is as of December 15, 2014.

Advisors' Opinion:- [By James E. Brumley]
Trading can be a quirky game sometimes. Most of the time, news - or at least loudly voiced opinions - tend to result from or be the cause of a fast-moving stock. Every now and then though, as in the case with MER Telemanagement Solutions Ltd. (NASDAQ:MTSL), a stock can build up steam with little to no news linked to that move. That doesn't make that stock a poor pick, however. Indeed, MTSL looks like it's turning into a homerun, and that alone is worth a look.... and maybe even worth a shot.

Advisors' Opinion:- [By Jon C. Ogg]
Dendreon Corp. (NASDAQ: DNDN) remains a company in trouble. The post-earnings jump looked promising and investors probably took some comfort when shares popped from $2.88 up to $3.31. Unfortunately, that did not last and the stock is almost back at the $3.00 mark.
- [By James E. Brumley]
If the idea sounds too radical to be true, it isn't. The idea is being employed by several biotechnology developers, including the aforementioned CEL-SCI and Amgen; they each have such immunotherapies in the works. In fact, there's already one major cancer-fighting immunotherapy on the market.... Provenge, from Dendreon (NASDAQ:DNDN). Although Provenge has been something of a disappointment in terms of sales - possibly due to modest efficacy relative to a huge price tag - and DNDN shares have struggled for a while, the fact that there's such a drug on the market validates the entire premise; the fact that other key players like Amgen and CEL-SCI are working on their own cancer-immunology drugs is just icing on the cake.
- [By Sean Williams]
This week's winner
Although there was no company-specific news out ofDendreon (NASDAQ: DNDN ) this week, following weeks of poor performance, it tacked on 8.7%. Presentations at the American Society of Clinical Oncology's annual meeting two weeks ago certainly helped to excite investors with regard to the potential of immunotherapy stocks, but Dendreon needs a lot more help than what a few early and mid-stage studies can offer. If Dendreon is to keep this rally going, it'll need decisively positive data on advanced prostate cancer treatment Provenge in Europe. We should certainly know more about its progress in Europe within the next few months.
